ABOUT CLARYSSA

Claryssa Webb is a talented multi instrumentalist and singer and artist from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She has won numerous awards during the Kiwanis Music Festival, and has represented Sault Ste. Marie provincially in four separate categories, as well as receiving awards for top provincial marks from her RCM examinations. She is an Undergraduate of the Music Education Program at Wilfrid Laurier University, recipient of the Laurier Centennial Tuition Award in 2011, as well as a concerto competition winner in 2012 with Mendelssohn's violin concerto in E minor.

Claryssa has obtained RCM grade ten in voice and violin, and grade eight in piano and cello through the Conservatory of Music in Sault Ste. Marie, and also plays viola, mandolin, guitar, bass, drums/percussion, mountain dulcimer and tin whistle. Claryssa has performed over 1000 hours in the Sault Ste. Marie community through fundraisers, events, nursing homes, soup kitchens, as well as mission work with her family band, WebbSurround in Jalapa, Guatemala. This resulted in receiving the C.L.A. '2006 Community Partnership Recognition Award' as well as being awarded by Sault Ste. Marie with the city's '2009 Cultural Advisory Board Community Recognition Award'.

Although classical music has shaped her repertoire and career choices, Claryssa has a big place in her heart for folk music and traditional style of fiddling. This stems from teaching and attending the Algoma Traditional Music Camp on St. Joseph's Island every summer from 2003 to 2012 (http://algomatrad.ca/). In 2016 with her partner Ryan Dugal, Claryssa Webb began Frontier Music- a studio downtown Kitchener that provides lessons, production, and recording to the general public (www.frontiermusic.ca). She has also toured her own music across the country with A New Ground’s ‘Forge the Sky’ album that was released on spotify in 2019, as well as enjoys performing with her colleagues in Mighty Kin (https://www.facebook.com/themightykin), and Homer Watson Boulevard (https://www.instagram.com/homerwatsonboulevard/).

Claryssa is passionate about nature and art, and the healing impact they have. After years of creating,  she has decided to share her work with you by offering her favourite pieces for sale. Her personal goal as a musician and teacher in the community is to share her love of music, art and nature, but also to inspire others to be the difference they want to see in the world. To shape the world through loving actions and true communication, together.
